Anna M. Ortmann, of West Toledo, passed away on June 4, 2022, at 9:25 p.m., with her daughter, Sheila, by her side. Anna had suffered mini strokes and seizures over the past couple of years, with the most recent one in January, but her daughter managed to keep her at home until her passing. Anna resided in the same home for over 62 years.
Anna was the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Kwader) Trznadel, and was born in her family home on Kosciusko Street, on May 17, 1938. She was the middle child of three, with an older sister, Toni, and a younger brother, John, who she referred to as "Bud".
Anna was VERY creative, making ALL of her children's Halloween costumes over the years, as well as making her husband's sports jackets. She could knit, crochet, macrame, embroider, sew ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, and if she didn't know how, she would figure it out! Anna even made her granddaughter's christening gowns and accessories. She was a member of the Stitch & Bitch Club, that her dear friend and neighbor, Irene got her to join. The ladies enjoyed many a laugh at their luncheons.
Anna was also a very compassionate, caring and giving lady. She was a caregiver to many over the years, especially after her divorce. Mom was ALWAYS for the underdog!! She was an AWESOME mother, grandmother, "new" great grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor, you name it! Anna did nothing in a small way....more was always better!!
Anna was preceded in death by both of her parents, sister Toni Hayden, brother John Trznadel, and grandson Dyllin Ortmann.
Anna is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Sheila Ortmann, granddaughter, Nicole (Kevin) Ayers, "new" great granddaughter, Danielle Ayers: daughter, Dawn Breidigan and family; and son, John Ortmann and family; as well as nieces and nephews. Anyone who knew Anna, knew that she "adopted" kids.
Her first adopted son, Larry Alford, and adopted daughters, Cindy Gale Forbes, and Gwen Donley-Stone are left to cherish MANY fond memories with Anna. Larry ALWAYS took care of his "Annie"!
Anna was cremated at her request. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 27, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at: Fairgreen Presbyterian Church, 3220 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH 43613. A luncheon will follow.
