Carol S (Heuerman) Hess

Carol S. Hess, age 78, of Holland, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born on October 21, 1944, to William L. and Anna M. (Bias) Heuerman, and she grew up on South Avenue in Holland, Ohio.

On April 1, 1972, Carol married the love of her life, Terry A. Hess, who preceded her in death in 2007. Together, they raised their daughter, Rachel M. Gaston, on Cuba Street in Toledo. Through the decades, they enjoyed the constant company of their extended family, especially her parents; her beloved sister, Ida J. Dehm; her brother-in-law, Richard H. Dehm; and her three nephews. The families travelled together frequently and spent time at the lake.

Carol loved holiday gathering, and she frequently hosted friends and family at her home. She nurtured many pets throughout her life. She enjoyed watching game shows and liked to play cards or bingo. She attended cosmetology school and worked for many years in retail. Above all else, she treasured time with her daughter and her granddaughter, Skylar.

She is survived by her daughter, Rachel; granddaughters, Skylar and Ariel, Todd (Katherine) Dehm; niece-in-law, Editha Dehm; and great nephews, Dustin (Maureen), Jason, and Zachary Dehm, brother-in- laws David and Jeff Hess, sister-in-law, Kathy (Bill) Ewald. And several cousins. Special friends Jann Haughn, Robie Gaston and Chad Mocniak.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna; her sister, Ida; her brother-in-law, Richard; and her nephews, Brad Dehm and Brian Dehm.
