Edward "Fred" Kraus Obituary

Edward Frederick (Fred) Kraus, 87, of Hudson, MI (and formerly of Toledo, OH) passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021, after a short bout with cancer.

He was born April 25, 1934 in Akron Ohio, son of Edward and Mary Kraus, brother to Charles, and Judy Farley, half-sibling to John (Linda) Walston, Janet (Bob) Singer, and Jeff Walston.

On May 17, 1958, he married his sweetheart, Rose Shriver. They were together for 51 years when she departed this world, December 12, 2009.

Fred married his second wife, Susan Walter, September 5, 2013 and enjoyed three years of happiness before Sue died in 2016.

Fred is survived by his four children, Fred Jr. (Ezra), Tom (Judy), Rose (Joe) Sorge, and Steve (Barb); his grandchildren, Greg (Dina) Kraus, Sarah (Mike) Levi, Robin (Chad) Kiefer, Samantha Sorge, Angelina Sorge, Ashley (Chad) Houtz, and Heather (Nick) Dunlap; as well as, great-grandchildren, Riley Kraus & Hazel Houtz, Johnathan & Emma Levi , Evelyn Kraus, and Amelia Dunlap.

Fred served his country in the Army from 1953-1955. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

Being out in nature was one of Fred’s favorite things- a love he passed on to his children. He was an avid gardener, fish hobbyist, and formerly a rock and fossil collector.

A memorial is being planned for a later date, as per Fred’s wishes in lieu of visitation and funeral.
