Kathleen Susan Stalker
11/9/46- 5/27/23
Kathy passed away peacefully at her home in Sylvania, Ohio, surrounded by family on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
Kathy was the youngest of three girls, born on November 9, 1946, to Norman ‘Pete’ and Hazel (Trombley) Nicely. She shared fond memories of growing up on Brock Drive and looked up to her older sisters, Judy and Mary Ann. She would brag of having the first television on the block after her dad had won it. She reminisced of days ice skating with her best friend Patty, and how cool it was when Judy gifted her her first transistor radio. Her early years were spent growing up alongside her children.
Kathy wore many professional hats in her 76 years, from managing local One Hour Martinizing stores to Medical Assisting, then retiring as a Sylvania Schools bus driver in 2015. Fiercely independent, there was nothing she could not do. An amazing cook and baker, a stain removing-clothing mending wizard, creative and crafty, even dabbling in oil painting. Kathy was quick to smile, generous, and caring she valued the simple things in life and being at home. She had many memories of friends and family camping at Mohican, Covered Wagon, and Totem Pole campgrounds and spending time with friends at Jugs bowling alley. She looked forward to the annual ‘Family Birthday Party’ themes and the newest edition of the ‘Family Tattler’ every Christmas. She enjoyed neck rubs from Tom, pizza bagels with a glass of Pepsi for breakfast, any kind of brain puzzles, gardening, Elvis, owls and soaked up all the R&R time she could get. Her candy choices may have been questionable, like black licorice and circus peanuts, but she made the best desserts! Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Carrot Cake and Cheesecake were her most requested by her family for gatherings. Most importantly she loved and appreciated the opportunity to watch her family grow.
Left to cherish her memory, husband of 46 years, Tom Stalker. A former Whitmer High School Circus Clown, who stole her heart, and together they built a beautiful life. Marrying in 1977, A true love story unfolded that rivals any you see in the movies. Together they have 7 children: Ginger (Tim) Mikolaiczyk, Chris (Mike) Riley, Janice Colston, Kelly (Rick) Sexton, Jim (Michelle) Stalker, Tammy Stalker and Teri (Aric) Neeld. 14 grandchildren. 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
We find comfort in knowing the Nicely girls are together again, and she was welcomed by many special family members and friends that went before. We would also like to thank the doctors at Dana and Hickman Cancer Centers, as well as the The Ability Center of Greater Toledo for being a great resource to our family in the last few weeks.
Family and friends will be gathering to celebrate the life of Kathy Stalker, on Sunday, June 11 from 1:00-3:00 at their home in Sylvania. Please stop in and share a memory or a hug.
