Patricia "Patsy" Conklin Obituary

Patricia A. "Patsy" Conklin
Patsy Conklin, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on March 29. As a vibrant follower of Christ, Patsy passed peacefully into heaven, joining many of her dearly loved ones who preceded her in death, including her husband of 47 years, Jim (d. 1998). Patsy was born in Toledo on November 23, 1929 to Margaret (Breniff) and Harold DeViney. She attended St. Charles, St. Ursula Academy, and the University of Toledo. She was honored as the Homecoming Queen in 1948, and the Glass Bowl Queen in 1949.
In 1951 she married her sweetheart James Francis "Jim" Conklin of Toledo. She and Jim went on to have 4 children, Julie (Hugh) Jones of Chapel Hill NC, Jim Jr., Andrew and John, followed by grandchildren and great grandchildren who all call her "Chickie."
Patsy taught kindergarten briefly along with a steady modeling career for local agencies, and with Richland Furs of Blissfield MI, featured in weekly style show luncheons at the Hathaway House.
All those who knew Patsy were recipients of her smile, warmth, genuine interest and a bit of lively Irish charm. An outgoing life long Toledoan, she never met a stranger! She had an artistic flair, following in line with her father, a skilled wrought iron worker, and her grandfather the Toledo painter Jesse E. DeViney. In mid life, she began a deeper pursuit of studying the Bible in small group settings and attending Washington Church.
Patsy spent her golden years as a beloved member of the Kingston of Sylvania community. Even as she graduated to Memory Care, she was a source of light and joy to many. We are extremely grateful for her Ohio Living Hospice nurse Rachel, and all of the caring Kingston staff. There will be a celebration of life service at a later date, followed by her burial at Calvary Cemetery. Keep in touch with the family for details.  We will miss you, Patsy
