Phyllis Ann “Paddy” Ward
Phyllis Ann (Paddy) Ward of Toledo, OH was swept up to heaven by the angels on March 4th after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was a strong devoted Christian who loved God as much as she loved her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and friends at McDonald’s, her favorite eating place. Phyllis was born in Toledo, OH on August 31, 1949, to parents Gus and Phyllis Dukes who preceded her in death. She graduated from Sylvania High School and worked many years for various bakeries as a cake decorator and worked at the Toledo Sports Area. She was famous for cooking delicious Thanksgiving dinners for her family. Another favorite pastime was calling her daughter Amanda out of the blue to spend the day going to yard sales. Paddy was often seen walking to from Alexis-Lewis to Miracle Mile down Lewis and Jackman all summer long. She loved shopping for clothes and taking care of her son Willie who helped her a great deal in the final years of her life. She was a very outgoing tell it to you how it is no holds barred put up your fists kind of gal who would help anyone she could even if it meant people taking advantage of her. Phyllis loved attending her church Calvary Bible Chapel where she was a member for over 20 years. Left to cherish her memory are her son William (Willie) Cline, daughter Amanda (Ben) Sawdy, grandchildren, Kayla, Ethan, Lilly, Isaac, River, brother William Dukes and many nieces and nephews. She is now with God in a place where she deserves to be where sickness and evil cannot touch her. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Bible Chapel, 3740 W. Alexis Road, Toledo, OH 43623. A celebration of life dinner will be held in her honor in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
