Ray Urbaniak Obituary

Ray William Urbaniak

Born: May 30th, 1950

Passed: December 5th, 2023 (with his children by his side)

Ray was raised in Temperance, Michigan and graduated from Bedford High School in 1968. He received an Associate's Degree from Monroe County Community College and worked as an automotive Design Engineer for Sharon Manufacturing, DeVilbiss, and Peterson Associates.

Ray was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, hunting, and harvesting firewood to heat his home. He spent many hunting seasons (up north) at the family cabin with his cousins and friends. He even had the opportunity to go on a moose hunt in Canada, just like his father, Floyd. Ray loved wildlife, spending much of his retired days watching deer and other critters from his bay window at home. Golfing was another favorite hobby of Ray's. He was very proud of his Hole In One! Some of his other interests include: cards, horseshoes, Westerns, and 80's action movies. Those that were close to him always got a kick out of his quirky taglines (e.g. "Bobo Knows") and how he would pronounce words incorrectly on purpose (e.g. milk was "moak" and human was "youman"). Visiting with Ray was often a classic-rock adventure for his children. They'd search the interwebs for his favorite tunes by Tom Petty, BTO, or Roy Orbison, while he'd sip a vodka tonic (or two). A visit from his brothers, cousins, neighbors, or close friends was always welcome, even though they might not have always left feeling that way... He definitely had a strange way of showing his appreciation!

Ray is survived by his brothers, Leo and Paul, his son, Ken (Jill), his daughter, Kimberly (Jason), and his grandchildren, Aiden, Viola, and Kenna.

His loss is deeply felt. Ray will be missed and always remembered.
