Robert "Robbie" Franco Obituary

The family of Robert (Robbie) John Franco of Monroe Township, Michigan is saddened to announce his passing at 72 years of age on September 21st ,2022.

Robert passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long battle with kidney disease, diabetes and dementia.

Robert was born in Detroit on April 5th 1950 to Aldo and Ernestine Franco (nee Levine). He was the second of 4 children and their only son. He attended Melvindale High School and Graduated in 1968.  Growing up he enjoyed spending time working for his father in his bar before going to work for Ford Motor Company from which he retired in 2017 as a Dock Manager at the Dearborn Campus.

Robert was an avid fisherman, known for spending hours in his boat on Lake Erie looking for the “biggest and best fish”. When fishing wasn’t an option he enjoyed hunting up north, attending Red Wings and Tigers game and being out in nature whenever the opportunity presented itself.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son Kyle (Sarah), his sons mother Andrea, his Grandchildren Aidan and Colton, Sisters Elaine Martin (Norm), Linda Clark (John) and Carol Rourk (Mike) and his 6 nephews and their children.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Aldo & Ernestine.

At Roberts request, no service will be held. He instead insisted he is remembered in the hearts and minds of those he had the ability to touch.

A spreading of his ashes will take place privately in his favorite place, Lake Erie. A private wake will be held to celebrate his life at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sachdeva, as well as, the entire staff of both Beaumont Trenton and Promedica Monroe Hospitals for taking such great care of him and his family in his final years.
