Roger Markey Obituary

Roger Thomas Markey, lifelong resident of Delta, Ohio, Passed away peacefully Tuesday March 14, 2023. Born February 20, 1943 (80) to Hilaire & Louise Markey, the eldest of three children, brother, Paul Markey, Jeannie LaPolla. Roger, a 1961 Graduate of Delta High School, served in Vietnam from 1962-66 in the US Army.
Upon marrying Fayleye Whitaker May 3, 1969, Roger took on the role as stepfather to three children, Troy, Dalene, Shiela (Whitaker). They added to the family two sons, Aaron, and Allen Markey.
Roger had a lengthy work career in sales. He was also a Mechanic, and a Pilot.
Roger had a love for auto racing, airplanes, football, and keeping his lawn manicured. You would find Roger every weekend right up against the fence at the local track with his race team, BDR/Markey Motorsports (Dusty Moore Racing). He loved dining out most nights locally at The Barn, The 109 and the Eagles. Roger was generous, contributing to Wounded Warriors, St. Judes, and various Cancer Research, The Special Olympics and was a Local member of The Pharaohs Car Club, and Delta Eagles Club.

Surviving: Brother, Paul Markey (Deb) of Lady Lake, FL. Sons, Aaron Markey of Grand Junction, CO. Allen Markey (Phaedra) Inverness, FL. Stepdaughters, Dalene & Sheila Whitaker. Grandchildren, Tory Myles, Zach Whitaker, Ashli Piper, Dylan Whitaker, Gavin Whitaker, Job Snell & Jaden Markey along with 9 great grandchildren. Two Nephews Joshua Markey (Sarah) & Jacob Markey (Elizabeth)

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Delta 109 Restaurant April 1st, 2023, starting at 5pm till whenever. Come casual. Bring your Roger stories about Auto Racing, Airplanes, and Memories.
