Ronald Bush Obituary

Ronald D. Bush

“Dude”

Ronald D. Bush, “Dude” 74, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on October 27, 2020 with his family by his side, after a courageous 8 ½ year battle with cancer.  He was born on June 27, 1946 in Toledo to the late Stella (Rhonda) and William Bush.  Ron was a 1963 graduate of Macomber High School and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Shoemaker) Bush in September of 1964.  On April 1, 1968, Ron was appointed to the Toledo Police Department until he retired in 1987.  Ron was always the life of the party and loved to make people laugh with his jokes.  His sense of humor certainly made him one of a kind.  Ron enjoyed golfing with his fellow officers back in the day, and loved cooking up something delicious in the kitchen.  His greatest treasure was spending time with his family. Ron was the epitome of a grandfather and most of his days were planned around his grandkids and their sports/activities.  Whether he was going to one of their games, a dance recital or dressing up as Santa Claus, Ron would never miss the opportunity to cheer them on or bring a smile to their faces. He was especially excited to still be here for the birth of his first great-grandchild.  Dude was simply the best.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Martin Bush.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Patricia; children, Wendy McGaharan (Bill Burson), Bill Bush (Jason Wong) and Cari (Chris) Fiock; grandchildren, Shane McGaharan, Kayla Born (A.J. Toepfer), Grant Fiock, Rylie McGaharan, Sydney Hofmann, Skylar Fiock and Trey Fiock; great-grandchild, Cruz Toepfer; best friend, Tom Babcock, who he considered a brother; and beloved dog, Bella.

No services are planned at this time.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to sincerely thank  Dr. Ajjai Alva, MD and staff at the University of Michigan oncology center for their care and support during the past 8 ½ years.  Also, the family sincerely thanks Grace Hospice, especially thanking Nurse Chrystal Booko for her amazing compassion, care and support in Ron’s final days.
